Can I cancel a money transfer after it has been sent?
Yes, you certainly can, if you’re the sender of the respective money transfer. First of all, an unclaimed money transfer is stored at the destination agent location for 30 days and after that is automatically returned to the sending bank, where you can pick it up. Secondly, you (the sender) may revoke a money transfer on you own initiative, if the money transfer has not yet been issued to the beneficiary. In order to do that, you have to come to a FIXI agent location in Latvia and submit an application for cancellation of the money transfer; please bring the money transfer form with you (it contains the money transfer control number, which is necessary in order to identify your transfer). Cancellation is free of charge; please note that the fee paid when sending the money transfer will not be returned to you. The cancellation process may take up to 24 hours, because the bank must first of all verify that the transfer has not yet been issued to the beneficiary. The operator will give you a telephone number, which you can dial later on to check whether the cancellation process has been completed.
Are there any age restrictions for money transfer services?
Yes, there are age restrictions for urgent money transfer services: according to the relevant regulatory enactments money transfers may be received or sent by persons who have reached the age of 18.
Can I send a money transfer if the beneficiary does not own a telephone?
Yes, you can. Beneficiary’s telephone number is optional and does not identify the money transfer, hence it can be omitted.
